HAMEAU DU FALISSON

The hamlet of Falisson has been known since 1307. It is located in the driest part of the Causse de Sauveterre and is made up of two main groups of farms. One of the buildings of one of these farms dates back to the 17th century as indicated by the shape of the bays and above all the quality of the gray limestone structure. The hamlet lived mainly from sheep farming. It is supplied with water by a well that is said to be Gallo-Roman, the building that protects it is from 1922. This well was also used for animals, hence the presence of a trough and a lavogne (masonry space to form a water reserve) of rectangular plan. Since, at least 1687, the inhabitants had owned a bread oven which still exists. The church, built thanks to a subscription of the inhabitants between 1882 and 1895, is located halfway between the two groups of farms and therefore isolated, which is quite original.
