Montialoux

PR N°16 of the Heart of Lozère. This circuit departing from Rouffiac will take you halfway up the northeast flank of the Causse de Sauveterre. On this part, you will have plenty of time to admire part of the Valdonnez valley as well as the "Truc" (small promontory) of Balduc and the blue marls that line the bottom of the Truc. The path will take you to the ruins of the castle of Montialoux which you can admire during your descent. The circuit will then follow the course of the Bramont (tributary of the Lot) to return to your starting point. This walk will allow you to browse the old commandment (or castle) of Montialoux. The commandment was, in the Middle Ages, the smallest administrative subdivision. That of Montialoux depended on the barony of Tournel. The castle, in ruins, evokes the dark hours of the wars of religion. Marking: yellow color.
