The Saint-Pierre de Lanuéjols church is a remarkable example of Romanesque architecture since it has been modified only slightly since its creation in the 12th century. In the 14th century, the south side of the nave was enlarged to create two chapels and the western facade was redone. Another important modification: the bell tower. Originally, it was installed at the crossing of the transept on a dome, as at Ispagnac or Nasbinals, but it was destroyed during the Revolution and replaced by a simple bell tower with a single bay. Its exterior architecture is quite sober, the implementation of the calcareous tuff is however very neat and testifies to an excellent mastery. Inside, the barrel-shaped nave opens onto a transept covered by a very elegant dome on a squinch. The church is open for a free visit. The Pays d'art et d'histoire Mende et Lot en Gévaudan offers visits to the villages as part of its program but also on request. click to discover the circuit of Romanesque churches in the Land of Art and History
