Pope Urban V was born in 1310 in the Château de Grizac (municipality of Pont de Montvert). He decided, by a papal bull, in 1363, to build the Collegiate Church of Bédouès to house the remains of the Grimoard family, his parents. The collegiate church was built in schist, following the shape of a Latin cross.
