A grandiose and monumental site, the castle and the village of Castelbouc invite contemplation. The castle is perched on a pedestal, and overlooks the village carved into troglodytes in the limestone rock. Legend has it that in 1095, when all the lords and men-at-arms went in search of the Tomb of Christ in Palestine, the lord stayed at the castle to hold the stronghold represented by Castelbouc. Following a few feats of arms, this one attracts the favors of the ladies around, and makes every effort to satisfy their desires, so much so that he ends up dying. After his death, a goat, a symbol of virility, appeared above the castle then left for the horizon.
