MOUNTAIN BIKING
more information on bikes and cycling
Mende has a nature-friendly mountain bike park.
This discovery area in the heart of the Causse de Mende forest is accessible to all for mountain bike sessions in the undergrowth.
The goal is to introduce young and old alike to the practice of mountain biking. It also allows those who had put their bikes aside to get back to it slowly and in a fun way (MTB and Trial course, with modules adapted to each level).
Everything has been designed so as not to distort the site:
– The modules were exclusively made of wood (a half of the elements recovered on site).
– A design thought to preserve the profile of the ground without the need for earthworks.
– No removal of trees for its realization. Maintenance is performed manually.
Three distinct spaces make up this park:
1. area reserved for children under 5 (about 175 m²).
2. a circuit reserved for children aged 5 to 8 (length 272 m, the course includes 1 module, 2 workshops and 3 natural obstacles).
3. a route accessible to people over 8 years old (length 1050 m with 2 modules, two workshops, a footbridge, and 8 natural obstacles).
The modules and workshops are made of treated category IV pine without chromium or arsenic, assembly by screwing only and no concrete sealing.
